2016 Old Vine Shiraz

(Only 100 Dozen Produced)

Every vintage winemaking practice guides the fruit into a reflection of sunshine, rain, and soil. The aim is that the fruit shines with great characters reflecting the vintage. Every year the best fruit goes into a variety of different barrels. The barrels that make the Old Vine Shiraz are specifically chosen. This Vintage showed intense fruit flavours and characteristics. Barrels selected were a 1200L Foudre and 2yr old French hogshead, adding subtle oak influence and to let the purity of the old vines show.

These 73year old vines are located around Blewitt Springs. The soil is sand over clay - this helps provide deep root growth, which then sustains the maturity of the fruit during growing season. The vines collect the minerality of the soils and intrench the micro-climate.

Aromas of red fruit, spice, and pepper pairs with complex, elegant and intense flavours. These characters shine with subtle oak influence. A very serious and powerful wine that shall blossom with bottle age.
