2017 SELDOM INN SHIRAZ
In the verdant countryside of picturesque McLaren Vale, a crop of perfectly aged and reliable vines sat expectantly awaiting ideal conditions. 2017 was a big cropping year across the region. A long dry summer transformed into a rain-soaked winter, the split dry ground eagerly soaking up the frequent moisture. Grapes from very old vines comprise 75% of this spectacular Shiraz resulting in a wine full of character and depth. The unswerving quality of these magnificent old vines are ably supported by blends from sister vineyards in Martins Road (ironstone soil) and Maslin Beach (limestone soil). It’s been aged for 16-18 months in 40% new French oak Puncheon barrels. This wine is a sublime masterpiece, a fruit-driven classic with high noted floral tones. It represents typical Seldom Inn value for money.
