ESTABLISHED 1991...
Tim was born and bred in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand and started working in the industry in 1991. He soon got involved at Mission Estate Winery, one of the oldest wineries in New Zealand. The winemaker at Mission Estate included staff in the wine making trials and blind tasting wines from all around the world. This started Tim's hunger to find out more and took him to the University of Adelaide to study Oenology. He completed 28 total vintages including time in Hawke's Bay, Barossa Valley, Hunter Valley and McLaren Vale. Tim also spent 2019 and 2023 vintage at Domaine La Barroche, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, France.
The movement to McLaren Vale in 2000 with Rosemount Wines started his respect for the region, moving to a well-known winemaker and character of the region, Wayne Thomas. In 2007 Tim decided to have a go at processing his own fruit and starting his family run label, Geddes Wines.
Geddes Wines is a unique winery where the fruit is sourced locally in McLaren Vale and close by - with a strong belief wines are created, not produced. The winery is family owned and operated and Tim works with the style each year to create a consistency and realises not every vintage is the same.
Aiming for Reserves, Single Vineyard Wines and if it's not in style, he has created the Current Release, Seldom Inn Range - which is approachable as young wine and has ageability.
